The Traditions

These are laws of Camarilla society. All Kindred presented to a Camarilla court are expected to know and abide by these laws, and failure to comply with them can be met with a variety of punishments, up to and including summary executions. The language is slightly archaic, but this is the formal version that more traditional sires teach their childer.
  1. The Masquerade
Thou shall not reveal thy true nature to those not of the Blood. Doing such shall renounce thy claims of Blood.
  2. The Domain
Thy domain is thine own concern. All others owe thee respect while in it. None may challenge thy word while in thy domain.
  3. Progeny
Thou shall only Sire another with the permission of thine elder. If thou createst another without thine Elder’s leave, both thou and thy Progeny shall be slain.
  4. The Accounting
Those thou create are thine own children. Until thy Progeny shall be released, thou shall command them in all things. Their sins are thine to endure.
  5. Hospitality
Honor one another’s domain. When thou comest to a foreign city, thou shall present thyself to the one who ruleth there. Without the word of acceptance, thou art nothing.
  6. Destruction
Thou art forbidden to destroy another of thy kind. The right of destruction belongest only to thine Elder. Only the Eldest among thee shall call the Blood Hunt.

In modern times, items 2 and 5 are generally held to apply to the city, and the Prince - everyone is supposed to present themselves to the prince, and abide by his laws while in his city, although some Princes to allow others Domain rights over some portions of their cities. Unsurprisingly, the “Elder” in items 3 and 6 is generally held to mean “Prince”.
